Poetry, as it’s defined in the modern dictionary, is a literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm.

The definition is pretty accurate.

The written word when by itself is simple, and sometimes holds no meaning whatsoever, but when certain words are grouped together, it can be magical. The beauty of poetry is for every reader, the meaning may be completely different. Poetry, more so than other forms of writing, allows the reader to escape, to relate their own experiences to the words the writer has bled onto the page.

Making Memories Watching All the Marvel Movies in Order

I wanted to give a little background before I get into the true point of this post. When I first got married, my wife at the time, had three children. A son 13, and daughters 11 and 4. Since day one I treated them as my own. I too had been part of a household that experienced divorce. My mother’s second husband was a wonderful man who treated me as his own. And I soon was, as he adopted me when I was 7-years-old. So I knew what it was like. Unfortunately, my marriage didn’t last but that wasn’t the end of my relationship with my step-children. <—- That will be the only time I use the step reference throughout this post because they became my children, I lived for them and just because their mother and I split didn’t change that. I divorced her, not them.

Suffering From a Little Bit of Burnout

Please don’t take this as any cry for pity – I don’t need it, nor do I want it. I just needed to get this out and off my chest. It’s been bottled up inside for far too long. I have lost my way. Love. Loss. Heartache. Desire. Wants. Wishes. I absorb it all. Years of caring for everyone else and pushing my needs to the back burner has caused me to lose motivation and desire. Not in a suicidal or manic way but an overall general feeling. I am running on automatic most days. It as if each day…
